Partner in Health

KIDS Community has partnered with NC Elite Volleyball Club in support of the American Heart Association through the Teen of Impact Campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of fitness and heart health and bring CPR training to youth in the community via access to training material and fitness, health and wellness opportunities. The American Heart Association mission - to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives - embodies the aims of the KIDS Community portfolio of projects.  From "JUST PLAY!" to "Addressing Food Insecurity" and "Dare to Lead", KIDS Community, along with our partners and many others in the community, are proud supporters of the American Heart Association.

Why the American Heart Association Teen of Impact Campaign?

For far too long, there has been a misconception that cardiovascular diseases only afflict the older population. The stark reality is that heart disease and stroke can strike at any age, with a concerning surge in heart attacks among younger individuals. It's a wake-up call that demands our attention..

Preventing cardiovascular diseases is within our grasp through the adoption of healthy lifestyle changes. However, many teens dismiss the notion, convinced that such health issues are reserved for others. Factors like limited opportunities for physical activity and engagement in sport, a lack of access to affordable, nutritious foods, and the overwhelming stress of managing academics, work, sports, and various commitments contribute to this mindset. Additionally, the insidious targeting of teens by big tobacco companies further complicates the challenge of prioritizing health.

But together, through leadership and community engagement, we have the power to rewrite this narrative by joining forces as a relentless advocate for a world characterized by longer, healthier lives.  We can effect real change!

KIDS Community, in partnership with NC Elite Volleyball Club has put together a dedicated team committed to raising awareness of heart disease and stroke, working to foster healthy lifestyles, and securing vital funds for research and programming.

Through our support, the American Heart Association can:

  • Spearhead groundbreaking research to spare teens and their families from the impact of cardiovascular disease.
  • Educate individuals on healthy living, offering guidance on maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, managing stress, understanding health metrics, ensuring adequate sleep, and more.
  • Transform healthcare to ensure equitable access to quality care.
  • Advocate for legislative policies that enhance community health.
  • Equip more people with the knowledge and skills to save lives through CPR.
